“It is great to see this Music Video doing so well on YouTube. Simon has been part of Albion SC since U7 and is a big part to the success over the years of the BU12 White team that he has been together since U8,” said Wayne Crowe, Director of Soccer at Albion SC. “Simon is a dedicated player that works extremely hard to perfect his craft and has a great future ahead of him. Hearing the song and seeing the video, it is great to see the work of Jared Sagal.”
UPDATE 8/21: Be a part of the Sequel
“The response to the video blew us all away,” said Jared Sagal, Director. “People from all over the world reached out to tell us just how moved and inspired they were. There was a big article in the local paper and lots of attention that we weren’t prepared for. Four million views later (and still going strong) new fans have been asking about a sequel.”
This time around Sagal is looking to do something even more powerful. Also a musician, Sagal created a soccer-specific song called 90 Minutes for the sequel. His vision is to film at elite training facilities using better equipment and top level performance coaching.
“We definitely want to maintain the intimate simplicity of the original video and we have a great script and story,” said Sagal. “In this video, Simon has to overcome adversity, bullying, homesickness and self doubt — all things that we want to help kids deal with better. Imagine Rocky meets The Karate Kid, but for soccer.”
Sagal hopes that supporters will want to be a part of the sequel project because, like Sagal and his nephew, they have a love for family, music, soccer and never giving up on a dream.
