San Diego Sockers 11, Atletico Baja 5
Soccer News: The San Diego Sockers finished 2015 in style with an emphatic 11-5 victory over Atletico Baja at the Unidad Deportiva.
San Diego’s counter-attack continues to dominate as the Sockers used quick flowing moves to leave Atletico chasing shadows and finish with their highest goal-tally of the season.
Matt Clare scored his second hat-trick (both against Atletico Baja) of the season while Enrique Tovar, Reymando Reza and Nick Perera scored two goals apiece.
Kraig Chiles scored his first goal in three games and continued to play provider with four assists. The Sockers’ talisman now has 11 helpers in the club’s last four games.
It looked like it could be a very different evening as former Sockers’ midfielder Arman Nadjafi put Atletico Baja in front inside the first three minutes, but the Sockers fired off the next five goals and never looked back. The run included a first quarter flurry of three goals in the space of 3:26.
The Sockers improve to 6-4 on the season and will start 2016 in Tacoma on January 3rd, where a win would draw them level with their opponents for second place in the Pacific Division.
Also note the San Diego Sockers recently confirmed two schedules changes to its season schedule:
The match against the Milwaukee Wave scheduled for Thursday, January 7th has been moved to Tuesday, January 5th. Kick-off is still set for 7:05 pm PT and is a massive encounter as the Sockers take on one of the most storied franchises in indoor soccer.
On February 21st, kick-off for the match against the Turlock Express has been moved from 2:05pm PT to 5:05pm PT. This is a very special night as it is Military Appreciation Night. All active duty Military that buys tickets on their respective bases will get two for the price of one. For everyone else it will be an excellent opportunity to pay tribute to the men and women who are not only such an important part of our great city, but serve our wonderful country everyday as well.
