Eastern New York Releases New Youth Soccer Video Series Focused on Educating Parents, With Help From Stellar Alumni and Coaches
New York Youth Soccer News: The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association is pleased to introduce new soccer videos
The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) has released the first in a series of videos targeting “soccer moms and dads” throughout New York State and providing them guidance from some of the most well-known alumni and coaches from New York.
“We hope that parents and players enjoy this video series about Eastern New York Soccer and the interviews to come with several alumni who have gone on to become some of the top players and coaches in the United States,” commented ENYYSA President Richard Christiano. “They will explain what motivated them and the life lessons they learned on the soccer field.“
Here is the first of 10 segments being released by ENYYSA:
Future segments include:
- Former Stony Brook University Women’s Soccer Coach and Region I National Coach, Sue Ryan
- St. John’s University Men’s Soccer Coach, Dr. Dave Masur
- University of Connecticut Men’s Soccer Coach, Ray Reid
- New York Red Bulls Director of Coaching & Development, Bob Montgomery
- Former US Men’s National Team Player with 66 caps and Current Red Bulls Asst. Coach, Chris Armas
- Former NYCFC Defender and now with Real Salt Lake, Chris Wingert
- Former New York Red Bull fan favorite and now Asst. Coach with the NY Red Bulls, John Wolyniec
- New York Cosmos Defender and Captain, Carlos Mendes
- Former Adelphi Player, Coach, Administrator and Smithtown Kickers Club President, Pat LaManna
- ENYYSA and LIJSL Alumnus, International Author and Motivational and Leadership Speaker, Kevin L. McCrudden
ENYYSA consulted with Kevin L. McCrudden to produce the video series with Aurora Productions of Huntington, Long Island. McCrudden is an international author and speaker, known as “Mr. Motivation” and “America’s CMO – Chief Motivation Officer,” Publisher of Soccer Long Island Magazine and Founder of the Long Island Soccer Player Hall of Fame, as well as an alumnus of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) and ENYYSA.
“This is about guiding our children and being there to support them and making sure that we help them develop the motivation and drive to become successful players, and more importantly, successful human beings. It would be wonderful if our kids play on the World Cup team, or in MLS or in the NWSL, but in the end, we are building human beings,“ explained McCrudden.
Although they say that you cannot be all things to all people, ENYYSA does exactly that for 11 member leagues with over 100,000 players and has for almost 50 years, serving elite players like the alumni in the video, as well as recreational players, who are happy to run around the field, kicking a ball with his friends. Some of the benefits of joining ENYYSA include:
- Playing in the State Open Cup, the National Championship Series competition for top teams
- Playing in the Arch Capital Group Cup, a statewide competition mainly for those teams not yet considered elite
- Playing in the Presidents Cup, a national championship competition for those teams not yet considered elite
- Olympic Development Program, considered the highest level of play in the state
- Affiliated futsal competition
- TOPSoccer Program for Children With Special Needs
- Risk Management
- Coaching Education
- Referee Certification
The video series begins this week with an introduction to ENYYSA and a different version will be released each Friday for the next 10 weeks. The intent of the series is to help alleviate some of the pressures that are being placed on parents of children playing soccer in New York. There is increasing pressure on parents to move players to different teams and clubs in search of “college scholarships,” which are largely mythical in today’s college scholarship process, which many of the coaches address in the video series.
ENYYSA has created the video series, because they have heard first hand from players and parents the amount of pressure they feel competing for these “college scholarships,” and the amount of money that is being spent to have their children play at the “right” club or with the “right” trainer, instead of focusing on the happiness and development of the player, not wins and losses.
Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association: With over 100,000 youth soccer players–both boys and girls–and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators.
All levels of soccer are offered–from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association.
