Eight Clubs Represented Among Nominees
Soccer News: The W-League announced the finalists for its 2015 regular season honors. The awards for Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, Defender of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year and Coach of the Year will be presented at Saturday’s Awards Banquet for the 2015 W-League Championship presented by Nike in Laval, Quebec.
Eight W-League teams are represented among the finalists, with the Charlotte Lady Eagles leading the way with four nominations. Six of the nominees will take part in the 2015 W-League Championship presented by Nike Friday and Sunday in Laval.
Charlotte Defender of the Year nominee Amanda Naeher is the only player with an opportunity to repeat as winner after earning the honor in 2014, while teammate Robyn Horner-Jones (Goalkeeper of the Year) and Sue Alber-Weber (Defender of the Year) of the Long Island Rough Riders are also repeat finalists. Votes for W-League honors are submitted by W-League team management and finalists are determined by All-Conference voting.

The host Laval Comets will welcome the Pride, Quebec Dynamo ARSQ and Washington Spirit Reserves to Desjardins Stadium Friday for the 2015 W-League Championship presented by Nike. Top-seeded Washington will meet No. 4 Quebec in the first semifinal Friday at 5 p.m. ET, with No. 2 Colorado facing No. 3 Laval at 7:30. The winners will advance to the championship match, set for 2:30 p.m. ET Sunday. The semifinals and championship will stream live on the W-League YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/user/uslwleague.
