Timeline for NPSL End-of-Season Awards Announced
The 2017 NPSL regular season is coming to a close as the league recognizes standout players, coaches and supporters with a series of awards. The Golden Boot will be the first award presented on July 21st, while the final awards will be announced after the NPSL Championship in August.
NPSL Soccer News: The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) has announced an extensive range of end-of-season awards to cap off the 2017 season.
Awards will be voted on by all stakeholders including teams, league staff, fans, supporters, and media. The following is a timeline of award announcements along with a brief description of each:
Friday, July 21st – The NPSL Golden Boot will be awarded to the NPSL’s top goal scorer. Only goals scored in the regular season will be used to determine the winner. Goals scored during preseason, postseason, exhibition, or U.S. Open Cup matches will not count toward a player’s total.
Friday, August 4th – Regional Best XIs, one for each of the league’s four regions will be
voted on by the teams themselves from July 28th-30th.
Monday, August 7th – The Global Scarves Supporter of the Year is an award that allows fans and supporters to submit photos of their favorite supporter to the league office for
consideration. Photos can be submitted to here from July 8th to July 15th with a supporter vote (July 28th-30th) deciding the eventual winner. The league office will determine the finalists for voting purposes.
Tuesday, August 8th – The All-NPSL Team will be voted on by league staff, fans, supporters, and media members. Online voting will take place from July 28th – July 30th. This award will include First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention. Each team will consist of a goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards.
Wednesday, August 9th – The NPSL Coach of the Year, voted on by the teams themselves, is awarded to the top head coach in the NPSL. Voting will take place from July 28th – July 30th.
Thursday, August 10th – The NPSL Golden Glove, voted on by the teams themselves, is
awarded to the league’s top goalkeeper. Voting will take place from July 28th – July 30th.
Friday, August 11th – The Mitre Golden Ball, voted on by the teams themselves, is awarded to the league’s top player, regardless of position. Voting will take place from July 28th – July 30th.
Saturday, August 12th – The Mitre Man of the Match from the NPSL National Championship powered by Mitre will be announced. This will be decided by league staff and media members in attendance at the match.
Friday, August 18th – The Staples Make More Happen Goal of the Year will allow fans and supporters to decide on their favorite goal of the year. Only goals from the regular season and postseason are eligible. Goals from exhibition, preseason, and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches are not eligible. Teams, fans, and supporters can submit nominations to here from August 1st to August 14th with a supporter vote (August 15th – 16th) determining the eventual winner. All nominations must include a video link and a brief description (i.e. date, player, opponent, score) of the goal. The league office will determine the finalists for voting purposes.
