UCLA Bruins Prep For 2017 Season
The men’s and women’s UCLA soccer programs are preparing for the upcoming fall season as the university releases the official schedules for the Pac-12 squads. Select matches will air on the Pac-12 Network this season as another exciting college season approaches.
College Soccer News: The four-time National Champion UCLA men’s soccer program has announced its 2017 schedule, featuring 18 regular season matches and 10 games televised on the Pac-12 Network.
UCLA has made 34 consecutive trips to the postseason as the squad preps for a difficult schedule once again, which includes eight teams that made the NCAA Tournament a year ago, including two-time defending national champion Stanford.
The Bruins open the 2017 campaign with three road matches beginning on Aug. 26th at San Francisco and continues with two games on the east coast versus Maryland on Sept. 1st and at Georgetown on Sept. 4th.
The Bruins will host six games televised on the Pac-12 Networks including the preseason home opener on Sept. 11th versus UNLV at 7 p.m. PT.
UCLA will open Pac-12 play at Drake Stadium against California on Sept. 28th and defending national champion Stanford on Oct. 1st with both games broadcasted on the Pac-12 Network.
UCLA Women’s Soccer
UCLA women’s soccer will host 12 matches and play on Pac-12 Network 12 times during the 2017 regular season. The crosstown showdown against defending NCAA champion USC will air on Friday, Nov. 3rd at Drake Stadium.
Home Pac-12 matchups include meetings against four 2016 NCAA qualifiers in Utah (Oct. 12), Stanford (Oct. 26), California (Oct. 29) and USC (Nov. 3). With the last three contests between UCLA and USC averaging over 8,200 fans, the two premiere teams in Southern California will attempt to break the NCAA attendance record of 10,128, which was set in 2014 during UCLA’s 2-0 win over USC in the Los Angeles Coliseum.
“We have great anticipation for our upcoming season,” said UCLA head coach Amanda Cromwell. “The quality of our opponents is second-to-none as we take on some big-hitters in the non-conference portion and know that the Pac-12 will be a battle. The team will be tested early with the knowledge that this will prepare us for the postseason.”
The Bruins return nine starters from last season’s squad that advanced to the NCAA Round of 16, including All-American and Olympic bronze medalist Jessie Fleming, All-Pac-12 honorees Anika Rodriguez and Hailie Mace and Top Drawer Soccer All-Freshman players Kaiya McCullough and Teagan Micah.
