Western Regional Futsal Tournament Set to Kick off in San Diego
The game of Futsal is loved around the world and recognized as one of the best player development tools offering tons of touches on the ball combined with fast-paced action requiring quick thinking and both offensive and defensive skills. And, Futsal is a ton of fun for the players. Here is a news on an exciting Futsal tournament.
619 Futsal is gearing up for its 2018 Western Regional Tournament scheduled to kickoff on June 29. Founded by Sean Bowers, former U.S. Futsal National Team captain, 619 Futsal provides San Diego with competitive youth futsal in the region.
Why sign up for the USYF Western Regional Tournament?
While soccer is a team sport, often not everyone on the team touches the ball as often as they would like — in Futsal, the pace is so fast and passing is the only way to successfully and consistently move the ball around the court, every player gets into the action.
The ball is constantly at a players foot— and there is never any player left out of the action.
“FUTSAL REQUIRES YOU TO THINK AND PLAY FAST. IT MAKES EVERYTHING EASIER WHEN YOU LATER SWITCH TO FOOTBALL,” SAID PELE.
Now it is time to show off your skills and take your team to the next level by participating in the 2018 Western Regional Tournament.
The tournament is hosted by former US Futsal’s national team captain Sean Bower’s 619Futsal. Bowers is a former MLS player for Sporting Kansas City — and was drafted in the first round of the MSL SuperDraft in 1996, and he attributes Futsal to helping his professional soccer career.
Bowers has the most CAPS for the US Futsal team and believes it is important for youth soccer players who want to become professionals to hold themselves accountable for their training and their success.
Bowers says, “It is important to demand excellence from yourself on a daily basis.”
“The game of Futsal is quick, therefore it helps build our soccer/futsal IQ to make the player think faster,” says Bowers. “The top coaches in the world are always looking for players who can think quickly and make the right decisions.”
