New York Youth Soccer News: A Division 4 team went all the way to the title!
In a game between two Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) teams, Hicksville Barca defeated the Massapequa Pythons, 3-1, behind a three-goal hat trick by Elijah Dorsainvil. This Boys-Under-14 Arch Cup Gold final was played on Saturday, June 10 at Stringham Park in LaGrange.
“We are an up-and-coming Division 4 team and we were able to beat a Division 2 team in the final as the boys gave 150%,” stated Hicksville coach Ricardo Guerra.
Massapequa received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials. Amoroso started the LIJSL Sportsmanship Program in 1980, it has since been copied around the world and he spoke about the benefits of Fair Play across the United States.
