U.S. Youth Futsal to Host I.D. Trial in San Diego
The latest U.S. Youth Futsal I.D. State Trial is coming to San Diego in order to provide youth futsal players the opportunity to take their skills to the next level. The event will be hosted by 619 Futsal, a local youth futsal league and academy in San Diego that is dedicated to player development. Youth Soccer News: U.S. Youth Futsal has announced that 619 Futsal will host an I.D. State Trial in San Diego during the first weekend of May.
The Futsal I.D. program identifies and develops elite players in a competitive environment through Futsal I.D. State Trials.
FUTSAL I.D. Trials are for boys and girls born 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009.
Top players from each identification trial are invited to participate in the U.S. Youth Futsal National I.D. trials, which includes training and matches. The U.S. Youth Futsal National Teams are selected from the national trials.
Assembling the very best futsal players to train and compete under the guidance of the United States National Coaching Staff assures the highest level of development possible.
For American youth soccer players, the benefits of playing futsal are now heavily acknowledged.
Sean Bowers is the former U.S. Futsal National Team captain and the founder of 619Futsal.
Bowers was selected in the inaugural MLS SuperDraft and played for Sporting Kansas City. Now, the General Manager of the 14-time champion San Diego Sockers, Bowers has decades of experience in the soccer world, as a professional player, a coach and as a manager.
Bowers knows from his personal experience how futsal improves a player’s soccer development.
“Futsal is a sport that can develop our youth soccer players — both technically and tactically — and makes them more successful in the outdoor game,” said Bowers.
“All the best professional players in the world have grown up playing futsal,” said Bowers. “You have to think faster, move quicker — it is amazing training for youth soccer players.”

Players are chosen at State I.D. Trials for the National I.D. Trials in Kansas City where the players are selected for the U.S. Youth Futsal National Youth Teams that play international friendlies.
In 2018, over 500 youth players from 34 states were trained and evaluated by 26 futsal coaches at the National Futsal I.D. trials. Then the players for the U.S. Youth Futsal International were selected. The U15, U16 & U18 teams traveled to Medellin, Colombia to compete and the U11, U12, U13 & U14 traveled to Lisbon, Portugal
U.S. Youth Futsal International Teams are comprised of some of the very best futsal players in the entire country.

Full-time U.S. Soccer Development Academy players are only permitted to participate in the U.S. Youth FUTSAL I.D. program during the offseason and upon written permission from the applicable Academy Director of Coaching. Developmental players are eligible without restriction or requirement.
