Soccer News: Mario Pinto Earns Player of the Week Honors
Joplin Demize forward Mario Pinto has been named the 10th Mitre National Player of the Week for the 2015 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) season.
Pinto has scored three goals in the last four games. Most recently he scored the game-winner, his second of the season, in a 2-1 win over Dallas City FC on Thursday.
The Brazilian striker has spent time with a number of other clubs, including the Atlanta Silverbacks, Reading United A.C., and Louisville City FC.
Pinto registered an incredible 49 goals and 14 assists during three collegiate seasons at Lincoln Memorial University. He would go on to earn a plethora of awards during his time there, including NSCAA All-America Second Team (2012), Daktronics All-America First Team (2012), NSCAA All-Southeast Region (2011-2013), SAC Player of the Year (2012), and SAC Freshman of the Year (2011) honors.
