Alexi Lalas and Sydney Leroux help NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® launch new partnership with youth sports organizations, to support education and awareness of the importance of providing healthy recovery and refueling options for soccer athletes.
NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® has announced a multifaceted partnership with youth sports organizations US Youth Soccer and AYSO. NESQUIK is also teaming up with professional soccer players and coaches nationwide to reinforce that NESQUIK is a recovery beverage. Research suggests that low-fat chocolate milk provides the ideal 3:1 ratio of carbohydrates to protein that can help refuel and restore exhausted muscles after exertion.
As part of the company’s commitment to support soccer, Nesquik is launching a digital presence on AYSO and US Youth Soccer where coaches and parents can find information and tips about the mental, physical and nutritional aspects of recovery for athletes. The sites also offer visitors the opportunity to learn from U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer Alexi Lalas and current professional player Sydney Leroux, who filmed a series of instructional videos offering training and nutrition tips.
“Nutrition makes a huge difference in athletic performance after games and practices, and it’s clear to me that low-fat chocolate milk can help players get an extra edge,” said Alexi Lalas, former U.S. Men’s National Team member and current analyst for ESPN and ABC Sports. “Speaking on behalf of myself and my kids, we’re looking forward to refueling with NESQUIK on and off the field this year.”
NESQUIK will also participate in many large soccer tournaments this year, including the AYSO National Games in Los Angeles, and the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Maryland, where they will offer offer coaches, parents, and players information on the recovery benefits of low-fat chocolate milk.
Soccer is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States and will take center stage during the FIFA World Cup starting this month. With more players joining the game, and to help them perform their best, it’s critical that coaches and parents know the facts about proper recovery methods after exercise.
More than four million children age 6 to 17 currently play in some form of organized soccer, and in the past decade alone, high school soccer participation has doubled, according to the National Federation of State High School Associations.
“We’re excited to be partnering with truly outstanding organizations, and players, and have this unique opportunity to provide coaches and parents with excellent tips and products for better recovery,” said Jared Zack, of the NESQUIK Brand. “Nesquik should be the beverage of choice after games because it can help restore exhausted muscles in a way that other leading hydrating sports drinks cannot.”
