Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles Donate to Neighborhoods Through Charity Campaign
The Tijuana Xolos have exceeded its goal in its charity campaign that donated nonperishable food collected at home games in the Copa MX group matches to nearby neighborhoods. Xoloitzcuintles players Gabriel Hauche, Paul Arriola and Gibran Lajud served as club ambassadors behind the campaign that received more than four times the estimated amount of donations.
Soccer News: Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles surpassed its goal in its “A Ton Worth of Help” campaign during 2016 Clausura Copa MX group matches at Estadio Caliente. More than 14 tons of nonperishable food was collected during the three home games in the cup competition.
The original goal was three tons, one per game, but the Xoloitzcuintles fan base superseded the goal mark with its donations.
Xoloitzcuintles players Gabriel Hauche, Paul Arriola and Gibran Lajud were the driving force of the campaign, serving as club ambassadors. As well as commercial partner Calimax, which donated 450 kilos of its Max Select brand of food.
Ranier Falcon, Miriam del Sol and Arturo Aguirre, city representatives for La Mesa, Otay Centenario and La Presa were the privileged city officials to give the collected food to the Mesa, Nueva Esperanza, Cañon 16, Quinta Roo, La Morita, Mariano Matamoros and Maclovio Rojas neighborhoods. They were accompanied by the team mascot XoloMayor and cheer group the XoloGirls.
