The USL’s New Digital Network Platform
SAFC launched its new website over the weekend in conjunction with the USL Digital Network that offers fans a platform to engage in content with supporters across the league. The club launched the site during its home opener of the 2016 USL season as the entire league migrates to the network.
Soccer News: The United Soccer League‘s San Antonio FC debuted a new website this past weekend in conjunction with the expansion team’s home debut against the Swope Park Rangers at Toyota Field. The site’s rollout also marks the debut of the USL’s Digital Network.
Over the course of the 2016 season, clubs will migrate to the USL’s Digital Network, the singular platform that is set to play a critical role in the league’s digital-first strategy. The USL Digital Network has been designed to offer visitors increased content with multiple news and video options specifically designed to increase fan engagement.
At the start of its 2016 season, the USL debuted a three-step, digital-first strategy with USL’s website, which offers a new mobile-friendly site to provide a unique content-and-user experience for supporters and the soccer community. The site is intuitively navigable, has a clean user interface and also boasts a far more robust news and video highlight section designed to drive supporter engagement.
The second step was offering 2016 USL regular season games and playoffs live, for free, and in HD on a new USL Match Center. Not only is the audience able to enjoy the games live, they can follow match discussion and banter using a live Twitter feed that displays alongside the game.
“The announcement is an important milestone for the USL and our digital-first strategy,” said USL President Jake Edwards. “The USL and all of our clubs have recognized the strength of aggregating the size and scope of our League and the importance of working as one. We are looking forward to seeing our teams make the transition to the network in the coming months. The USL Digital Network’s goal is to meet and exceed the demand of our ever-growing supporter base as well as the appetite of today’s soccer consumer who are equally driven by digital content and engagement.”
