The fact that Leicester City has won its first Premier League title as Chelsea came from behind to draw Tottenham – well, some people are saying this is the most incredible upset in soccer history. The Spurs needed all three points to keep its title hopes alive but were silenced by Eden Hazard who leveled the score in the final ten minutes of the match at Stamford Bridge.
Soccer News: Leicester City F.C. have been crowned champions of the Barclays Premier League following Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw versus Chelsea. Leicester City’s tie versus Manchester United over the weekend put the Foxes’ title hopes on hold as they prepped for their upcoming game against Everton.
Jamie Vardy was not available for his second straight match over the weekend due to a two-game ban received against West Ham United. Chelsea led an unlikely comeback as Tottenham controlled the match in the first half of play. Gary Cahill put the Blues on the board in the 58th minute off a cross from Willian to put Chelsea back in the match and get Leicester fans out of their seats for the last half hour of what could be history for the club.
The Eden Hazard football fans came to love during the last Premier League campaign shined bright in the 83rd minute to bring the score level. Hazard dribbled in and out of players passing the ball to Diego Costa who played him right back just inside the 18-yard box. Hazard finished with a one-time shot in the top right corner completely out of reach of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. The score was level with the remainder of the match highlighted by late fouls and scuffles between the two sides. The match finished a 2-2 draw with Leicester City and fans kicking off the party.
Leicester city has taken the footballing world by storm as they continued to deny odds that they would be crowned champions. It wasn’t a matter of if they were to crash out of the title race but when. The Foxes have silenced those doubters and have been crowned 2015-2016 Champions of the Barclays Premier League.
