Tijuana Xolos Release New Kit for 2016 Apertura Season
The Xolos release its new kit for the 2016 Apertura season as the Tijuana club prepares for its opening match versus Monarcas Morelia in LIGA MX 2016 Aperutura Week 1 action. Over 1,000 fans were in attendance for the release of the kit on Wednesday night during a festive presentation that celebrated the evolution of the club.
Soccer News: Red and Black are the colors that adorn the Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles uniform, season through season. And on Wednesday night, a new version of the Xoloitzcuintles jersey was unveiled under a festive presentation.
Lights, smoke machines and an imposing projector screen for a specialized video where part of the presentation at the Caliente Plaza de Toros behind the Hipodromo Caliente. Special guests, community brass and the always-faithful fans were part of the event that displayed the uniform the Xoloitzcuintles will use for the LIGA MX 2016 Apertura season.
The entire Club Tijuana squad highlighted the event as players walked on to the stage wearing the three versions of the new uniform. The players wore new versions of the traditional home red jersey, the white away kit and a black alternate.
Club Tijuana President Jorgealberto Hank, accompanied by his father Jorge Hank Rhon, the Grupo Caliente President, were front and center at the event with special guests. One of those guest was the CEO of Grupo Modelo. General Manager Ignacio Palou and Deputy General Manager Roberto Cornejo were also at the event, leading the presence of the team.
But fans also made their presence felt. The 1,333 in attendance chanted and cheered on their team during the presentation. They also cheered during a highlight video that displayed the different versions of the jersey over the years.
“We will defend this jersey to the end,” said Club Tijuana coach Miguel Herrera after the event. “It is a very nice uniform. We want to represent in the best way possible and give our fans many things to be happy about.”
The new Adidas jersey is made with the “Adizero” technology. It goes along with the Xoloitzcuintles symbol of elegance and passion for the game. The jersey is made with material that makes it the lightest in the world. It weighs about 99 grams. That helps prevent added weight for the player during action on the field.
The Xoloitzcuintles will use the jersey for the first time Friday when it hosts Monarcas Morelia in LIGA MX 2016 Aperutura Week 1 action. Club Tijuana will train in the evening Thursday to complete its preparations for the season opener.
