Ariel Martinez of Miami FC is Named to NASL Team of the Week
Miami FC’s Ariel Martinez is named to the NASL Team of the Week following his game-winning goal versus Rayo OKC in stoppage time. The win put Miami back into the top five of the Fall Season standings as Martinez is named to the team of the week for the third occasion this year.
NASL Soccer News: The Miami FC’s Ariel Martinez has been named to the Fall Week 8 Team of the Week, announced the league office.
Martinez delivered a game-winner well into extra time, downing Rayo OKC 2-1. It was the club’s first comeback victory and put the Miami FC back into the top five of the Fall Season standings.
Aside from the wonder goal, Martinez had a strong night. Over 90 minutes of action, he fired off three total shots, completed 30 passes and won seven defensive duels.
Martinez has been strong for the franchise from day one. He has netted five goals in 2016, including two match-winners. His goal against FC Edmonton in the spring delivered the Miami FC it’s first-ever victory.
This is Martinez’s third NASL Team of the Week nod, the most for any Miami FC player.
The Miami FC takes on Ottawa Fury FC tonight at 7 p.m. and returns home, Saturday, August 27 for a clash with Minnesota United.
