With the 2016/17 MASL season approaching, the San Diego Sockers will be hosting open tryouts at the Sockers Indoor Center on September 10th. San Diego Sockers are preparing for the upcoming 2016/17 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) campaign with open tryouts held on September 10th. San Diego’s most winning team is looking to add another championship to their trophy case after falling short in the Pacific Division Final last year versus Soles de Sonora.
“Tryouts are a great place to find hidden talent. Every year there is a player or two that comes out that makes a great impression in front of all the coaches,” said former pro player Sean Bowers, General Manager.
Tryouts will be held at the Sockers Indoor Center located in the parking lot of the Valley View Casino Center.
Open tryouts are held every year by teams across the league and serve as a major resource for finding future MASL talent.
“Current MASL players Eli Galbraith Knapp and Arman Nadjafi were discovered at Sockers tryouts in the past,” said Ian Cook, Director of Marketing and Public Relations.
The tryouts will be powered by SoccerToday with in-depth coverage of the day to be included.
Just as a reminder, the San Diego Sockers are the most successful indoor soccer teams in the sport’s history. The team has won a total of fourteen championships and holds the record for the longest winning streak in American professional soccer history. The streak began on December 29, 2010, and lasted for 48 games — until the Sockers lost on January 27, 2013 by one point in overtime to the Dallas Sidekicks.
The Sockers are set to kick off the season on October 29th at the Valley View Casino Center with their opponent yet to be announced.
