Searching For Excellence – The First Round of Open Tryouts for Albion Pros Concludes
Southern California soccer is going to heat up this NPSL season with great competition on the men’s amateur circuit as Albion Pros — the reigning Southwest Conference Champions — gear up for their second season. The search for new talent is underway as their first round of tryouts comes to a close. Another tryout date is scheduled in December and a new exposition match on December 30th will be announced shortly to conclude the 2016 calendar year.
NPSL Soccer News: Albion SC Pros are preparing for the upcoming 2017 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) season with its second round of open tryouts scheduled in the coming weeks.
The first open tryout event was held prior to Thanksgiving break and the event welcomed an extensive amount of talent to the event. The talent pool of soccer players in Southern California has increased significantly.
Head coach Ziggy Korytoski notes that the growth of the club is astounding as Albion heads into their second season in the NPSL.
“Incredible first trial with great talent and numbers,” says Noah Gins, Technical Director. “It was highly successful with the signing of 2 major returning players from our inaugural season and we are launching a Closed Door Invitational Mini Camp in December.”
“I thought it was a strong group that we attracted for our first trial. I feel that this year, we will be even more technical than last year with a higher soccer IQ without conceding any of our athleticism,” says Korytosk.
Albion is looking for tested players as the local San Diego club has qualified for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and will be preparing to take on USL and MLS level squads.
“There was good experience in the group with players from around San Diego and around the world – college players, amateurs, as well as current and former pros,”says Korytoski. “I look forward to beginning our preparation for the US Open Cup with this group, and am just as excited to see the talent of players that will be out for our December 17th trial.”
What is Korytoski strategy for building the Albion Pros organization? It is a commitment to excellence on and off the field.
“First and foremost, the team collectively and the players individually must understand the importance that we are playing for something much bigger than ourselves,” says Korytoski.
“Nothing is bigger than the brand Albion SC or our city — San Diego,” says Korytoski.
“Every time we step on the field, every time that we step into the community — either in public or private — we all must understand what it is we are trying to collectively achieve and execute our role to match the expectations of the staff, the brand and the community,” says Korytoski.
“A lot of people and organizations talk about culture, but very few actually live it… At Albion, we live it,” says Korytoski.
Albion will be hosting its first round of open tryouts on Saturday, December 17th at Robb Field in San Diego. Registration is $60 and players can pre-register online here. .
