US Youth Soccer ODP Region IV Championships
The third day of the Region IV US Youth Soccer ODP Championships prepares kicks off as youth teams 2000-2004 put their skills to the test against top competition on the west coast. The four-day tournament will decide who represents the region in the 2017 US Youth Soccer ODP Championships in the 2000 and 2001 age groups.
Youth Soccer News: The 2017 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Region IV Championships, continued on Friday at Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix. The four-day tournament features teams in the 2000-2004 age groups from Region IV.

2000 Boys
Nevada finished Group A with a perfect 3-0 record to advance to the semifinals where they will face Group B winner Oregon. Oregon advances with six points as Washington and Cal North played a scoreless draw to keep them both two points behind. Cal South advances to the semifinals ahead of Utah after a 0-0 draw to end preliminary matches. The point keeps Cal South one point ahead as Utah needed a win to advance. Arizona advances to the semifinals as the second place club in its group, recording a 5-0 win over Colorado to earn the rights.
2000 Girls
On the second day of the Region IV ODP championships, Cal South edged Arizona, 4-1. Arizona’s Kiana Miyazato found the back of the net in the 19th minute, but it was a hat trick from Cal South’s Molly Myers and a goal from Jenna Nighswonger that gave Cal South the victory. With the win, Cal South moves into the semifinals from Group A. Washington topped Cal North in Group B, 4-1, to advance to the semifinals. With the 11-team format, Arizona, Utah, Idaho and Colorado will start Saturday with play-in matches to see who advances to the final two 2000 Girls semifinal spots.
2001 Boys
Cal South rolled to a 4-0 victory over Eastern Washington on day two of the ODP Region IV championships. Brandon Garcia opened the scoring for Cal South in the 23rd minute and in the 37th and 42nd minutes, Jaylen Magana extended the lead. The final goal of the match came from Daniel Martinez in the 75th minute. The win was enough to give Cal South an edge over Arizona Red in goal differential to advance to the semifinals as winners of Group B. Cal South will face Group B winners Utah who have gone undefeated while scoring 13 goals and allowing just two. Group C winner Washington, also undefeated, will take on Arizona Red who advances through to the semifinals as the best second place team in all the groups.
2001 Girls
Arizona put on a strong effort and came away with a 3-2 victory over Washington in its first match of the day. First to score for Arizona was Callie Darst in the 36th minute and just three minutes later, Washington’s Makenzie Rodrigues brought the match level. In addition, Nikayla Copenhaver from Washington and Arizona’s Margaret Detrizio and Isabella Santavicca both recorded second half goals. The win was Arizona’s first of two on the day to help them to a perfect 3-0 start through group competition. Arizona will face Utah who advance out of group play with a 2-0-1 record not allowing a single goal against. Cal South tops Group C with an undefeated record and an astonishing 22 goals. Cal South will face Group A runner-up Eastern Washington in its semifinal match.
2002 Boys
Cal South and Washington both advance out of Group A, with Cal South going through as the group winner on goal differential. Cal South will face an undefeated Utah side from Group B, which has scored 18 goals and only allowed one during the weekend. Undefeated Group C winners, Arizona, will face off against Washington. Arizona will look to keep its clean sheet streak going after holding off Eastern Washington 2-0 in its final game.
2002 Girls
Colorado defeated Idaho 4-0 to start its final day of preliminary play. Jordan Johnson was first to score for Colorado in the 5th minute and Grace Sublette added another first half goal in the 35th minute. Aspen Anderson had both of Colorado’s second half goals which was enough to record the 4-0 victory. The win helped Colorado on its way to an undefeated record in Group A play. Colorado will face Cal South from Group B and an undefeated Utah team from Group C will face Group B runner-ups Washington.
2003 Boys
Cal South advances to the semifinals just in front of Oregon WC on goal differential and will take on Group B winners Nevada. Nevada also advances on goal differential over Washington as both teams played out scoreless draws in their last matches. Utah, Cal North and Oregon all finished with six points in Group C, but Utah advances on goal differential. Arizona finished Group D three points clear of the second place team, earning a 4-1 win over Hawaii to end group play.
2003 Girls
Nevada advanced out of Group A following a 1-1 tie against Colorado and advances via a goal differential tiebreaker. Cal South finished Group B undefeated with 13 goals for and zero against to advance to the semifinals. Washington will also be advancing to the semifinals with a perfect record with only one goal against and will face the Group D winning Cal North side.
2004 Boys
Cal North went perfect in Group A, scoring 17 goals and allowing just two over its three games. Cal North will take on Arizona Red who advances to the semifinals out of Group B on goal differential after tying Utah and Oregon on points. Colorado advances to the semifinals as Group C winners to face undefeated Cal South from Group D.
2004 Girls
Undefeated Cal South and Cal North teams will face each other in a battle of California sides in the semifinals. Nevada advances form Group C with an important 3-0 win over Idaho in its last game. Nevada will face Group D winners Utah who just edged Colorado on goal differential to make it into the semifinals. Despite only earning one win, Nevada has remained undefeated through all three games, while Utah will look to build on its two-game winning streak.
