Three MLS Academies Join Gordon Jago Super Group
Three MLS Academies will make an appearance at the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup this spring as the clubs join the elite Gordon Jago Super Group. Dallas Cup is the oldest and most prestigious international youth soccer tournament in the United States that welcomes top international academies for its top flight.

Youth Soccer News: Dr Pepper Dallas Cup has announced three Major League Soccer academy teams have accepted invitations to the elite Gordon Jago Super Group for the 2017 edition of the prestigious international youth tournament. The Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC academies will join local academy FC Dallas to round out a competitive top flight.
FC Dallas is competing in its seventh Gordon Jago Super Group since 2010. Last year, FC Dallas advanced to the semi-finals before losing to eventual champion, Everton FC. In 2016, the FC Dallas U18 team won the U.S. Soccer Development Academy National Championship. In a recent rankings of MLS academies, FC Dallas sat in the top spot, while Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC both cracked the top ten as fourth and sixth.
Making their third consecutive Gordon Jago Super Group appearance, and fourth overall, Real Salt Lake looks to bring home its first “Boot and Ball” championship trophy in 2017. Real Salt Lake currently sits in first place in the Western Conference of the U17/18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy league with 15 wins and 3 losses.
Canadian side Toronto FC is returning to Dr Pepper Dallas Cup after its debut in 2013. They look to become the first Canadian champion across all age groups since 1988.
The Gordon Jago Super Group also welcomes the world-renowned Manchester United academy and 2016 Super Group champions Everton of the English Premier League, two-time Super Group champion Coritiba of Brazil, and Liga MX champions Tigres.
