25 Called to Training Camp Ahead of 2017 SheBelieves Cup
The moment of truth — The USWNT is preparing for the second annual SheBelieves Cup as Jill Ellis calls a group of tested and potential players for the prior training camp. Twenty-three of the players that will head to Orlando were part of the USWNT January Camp in Los Angeles with Meghan Klingenberg and Mallory Pugh having returned from injuries. Even newcomer, NWSL #1 Draft Pick Rose Lavelle makes the list.
Soccer News: U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Jill Ellis has called 25 players to a training camp roster prior to the 2017 SheBelieves Cup that will feature the United States, Germany, France and England playing in three doubleheader events at three different venues.
The U.S. team will come together in Orlando on February 20th for a week of training before traveling to Philadelphia to kick off the 2nd annual edition of the tournament on Wednesday, March 1 at Talen Energy Stadium.
England will open the afternoon versus France in Chester, Pennsylvania, at 4 p.m. ET followed by the U.S. against Germany at 7 p.m. ET on FS1.
The tournament will follow up in New Jersey when France takes on Germany on Saturday, March 4th at 2:15 p.m. ET followed by the U.S. suiting up against England at 5 p.m. ET on FOX at Red Bull Arena in Harrison. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday, March 7, at the historic RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. as Germany takes on England at 4 p.m. ET and the U.S. faces France at 7 p.m. ET on FS1.

Recent No. 1 NWSL College Draft pick Rose Lavelle will also make an appearance with the USWNT as she begins her career with the Boston Breakers in the spotlight. The former University of Wisconsin midfielder received Big Ten Midfielder of the Year honors in 2015 and 2016 to conclude her collegiate career.
“January gave us a chance to see some new faces in with the veterans, and get some quality time on the training field,” Ellis said. “A player’s performance in that camp and positional depth guided our selection for this pre-camp, and from here we will select our SheBelieves Cup roster. There will be no better test than opening against Germany, so we will need to have a laser focus as soon as we land in Orlando. As our players have not yet returned to their clubs, they have been training in their independent environments, so playing as much 11v11 situations will again be critical during these few days.”
