Winners Crowned at US Youth Soccer ODP Championships
The 2017 US Youth Soccer ODP Championships came to a close this past weekend for the 2000/2001 age groups as four titles were hoisted. With programs in all 55 State Associations, as well as regional, national and international tournaments, US Youth Soccer ODP continues to offer development and exposure opportunities to any player, regardless of hometown or club affiliation.
Youth Soccer News: Winners were crowned over the weekend at the 2017 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Championships at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Arizona. Cal South hoisted two national titles, while Eastern Pennsylvania and Florida each took home one.

2000 Girls
Cal South edged Florida in a 6-0 victory. In the fourth minute of play, Zoe Hasenauer scored the opening goal, and four minutes later, teammate Jacqueline Bruder added the second for Cal South. To close out the first half, Sara Jayne Affleck recorded the third tally. Cal South was aggressive offensively in the second half as well, with goals from Amber McCorkle, Helen Burke and Affleck to give Cal South the dominant win and a 2000 Girls ODP Championship title.
2000 Boys
Eastern Pennsylvania cruised to a 7-0 victory against Oregon. In just the 8th minute of play, Nicholas Brison scored his first of three goals. Eastern Pennsylvania’s Darryl Longdon doubled the score in the 22nd minute and his teammate, Aaron Tylicki, then scored two goals in five minutes. Heading into halftime, Eastern Pennsylvania held the 4-0 lead. The second half was the same story for Eastern Pennsylvania with two goals from Nicholas Brison and another by Matthew Pron. With the win, Eastern Pennsylvania was crowned 2000 Boys ODP Champions.
2001 Girls
Florida edged Cal South in a 4-1 victory. Molly Stetsma got the scoring going early for Florida with a goal in the 10th minute of the match. Cal South brought the score level in the 25th minute with a goal from Sarai Zedingil. In the second half, Florida was able to tally three goals. Nicole Vernis found the back of the net in the 53rd minute and Alexis Hiltunen netted two additional goals.
2001 Boys
Cal South won the 2001 Boys title in a 3-0 victory over Minnesota. Brandon Garcia opened up the scoring for Cal South in the 20th minute. Angel Franco added to Cal South’s lead in the 40th minute with a goal just before the break. Franco netted his second goal of the match in the 61st minute. Cal South’s strong defensive composure recorded a clean sheet, earning the championship medals.
