Travis Nicklaw Named NPSL Player of the Week
Travis Nicklaw of Albion SC PROS has been named the fourth Mitre National Player of the Week after leading his side to a 3-1 victory over Corinthians USA. The former San Diego State Aztec received Second-Team NSCAA All-Far West Region and Second-Team All-Pac-12 honors during his senior season as he joins the PROS for his first campaign in 2017.
NPSL Soccer News: Albion SC PROS forward Travis Nicklaw has received Mitre National Player of the Week honors for the fourth week of the 2017 NPSL season.
“Travis Nicklaw is a true professional and has been working hard from day 1 — it is great to have him on our team,” said Noah Gins, CEO of Albion Pros.
“It’s an honor to be named Player of the Week,” Nicklaw commented. “I would like to thank my teammates and coaching staff. It’s great to get the win after a tough couple weeks. I think the coaching staff did a tremendous job preparing us for the match during the week.
“I’m very happy for Travis,” said Head Coach Ziggy Korytoski.” “He’s been working extremely hard and it’s a tribute to his preparation over the last few weeks. Travis continues to grow as a player and we’re all looking forward to the rest of the season for him.”
Nicklaw tallied one goal and one assist in Albion’s 3-1 victory over Corinthians USA.
“Travis earning NPSL National Player of the Week is a great honor,” PROS head coach Ziggy Korytoski added. “He has worked extremely hard and continues to improve everyday. He is a coach’s dream. While he holds himself to a high standard, it is his preparation that is allowing him to flourish. I believe he is going to have a big impact on the league this season and I am really happy for him and all he has accomplished to date.”
Nicklaw is a San Diego native and former San Diego State University athlete. During his senior season for the Aztecs, Nicklaw led the team with five goals, four of which were game-winning.
Nicklaw was also named Second-Team NSCAA All-Far West Region and Second-Team All-Pac-12 during his senior season. He currently has two goals and one assist in his first season with the PROS.
The winner of this national honor is determined by a vote of media members from across the country. It is awarded every week during the regular season.
