SoCal SC Finds Their Force and Rebounds Beating Corinthians USA
SoCal SC hit a slump for two winless weeks and now have fond their strength on the field — rebounding with a shut out against Corinthians USA.
NPSL Soccer News: The competition in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is strong and one of the joy of soccer is that there is usually a winner and a loser — Draws are boring. However, being on the losing side of the pitch is always disappointing and can be particularly rough — especially for a fairly new team.
After two win-less weeks, the Southern California Sports Club (SoCal SC) rebounded as the team rediscovered its winning way with a dominating 3-0 win over Sports Club Corinthians USA last Saturday at the Fairplex. The SoCal SC team joined the NPSL in 2016 and have been known for their orange, black and white club colors — are now also recognized for their determination and passion.
SoCal SC’s head coach Daniel Musatti and his staff do not believe in giving up and their leadership has made the difference.
“After back-to-back defeats, we needed to win and we did it playing dominant soccer”, said Musatti.
Midfielder Alex Zaragoza was the first to find the back of the net against Corinthians USA while Colombian forward Roonie Moreno had a brace to score his first two goals in a SoCal SC’s uniform and take home the Man of the Match Award.
“The main difference was in the team’s attitude, as we expected, but we also made some adjustments on the strategy and the players managed to follow our game plan really well, so by getting the three points was reassuring for us, but we need to still improve a lot, as we keep creating the opportunities while we are still failing on our last touch,” said Musatti. “We are back to training tonight, so we are going to focus the work this week on pressure marking and finishing.”
With the result, SoCal SC moved two steps up on the Southwest Conference standings and now sits fourth with six points – two wins and two losses. Deportivo Coras leads with 15, followed by FC Arizona and Orange County FC with 10 each.
SoCal SC’s success on the field pleased Head Coach Daniel Musatti, who praised the players’ attitude change and commitment to the game plan.
