A West Side Story as Futsal Friendlies Are Being Offered
New York Youth Soccer News: Futsal being offered at Beacon High School this spring
New York Futsal, a proud member of the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA), is pleased to offer scrimmages this spring to high school-aged teams wanting to brush up on their ball control and learn how to play futsal.
The friendlies will be played on Saturday afternoons from 12:30 to 6:00 pm at Beacon High School, 520 West 44th Street in Manhattan and convenient from many New York subway lines as well as Penn Station and the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The fee is $100 per team per game.
Futsal is a 5-a-side game (one of whom is the goalkeeper), played on a hard surface with a low bounce ball ideal to making quick decisions, short passes and running off the ball. Substitutions are on the fly as in hockey, two 20-minutes halves. There is minimum physical contact with no charging.
“Futsal is not a physical but a technical game giving the kids the time and space that they need to develop skills,” commented New York Futsal Director Jaime Arias.
