Youth sports has a significant economic impact. US Youth Soccer will bring an enormous financial value to Virginia with the Region I (East) Championships scheduled this month. Youth Soccer News: The 2017 US Youth Soccer Region I (East) Championships set to be held June 30 – July 4 will provide an estimated economic impact of more than $15 million to the Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg and Stafford, regions of Virginia.
Local restaurants, hotels, retail stores and others will benefit from the more than 5,000 players, coaches, teams and tournament officials, who also bring along their families to the six-day tournament. Visitors to the region will book an estimated 15,000 room nights at area hotels plus another 2,850 dorm bed nights at the University of Mary Washington.
Over 260 top Boys and Girls US Youth Soccer clubs from Region I, including at least 19 teams from the host Virginia Youth Soccer Association, will compete at the Publix Virginia Soccer Training Center/FFC Park and Embrey Mill Complex.
