Chattanooga Wins At Home to Top Division
NPLS’ Chattanooga is on a hot streak at the moment with the Tennessee club sitting atop the South Conference Southeast Division following two wins at home.
CFC will welcome interdivisional rival FC Carolina United to FORT Finley on Saturday as another weekend of NPSL action kicks off.
NPSL Soccer News: Soccer is exploding all across America as the game steadily increases in popularity. While there are several men’s soccer leagues in the USA, the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is a favorite of many with excellent soccer action on an amateur level and great community excitement.
NPSL’s club Chattanooga FC is coming off two consecutive home wins with two games remaining in the current home schedule.
Last Saturday, the Boys in Blue defeated division leading Inter Nashville FC 2-1 led by late heroics from Danny Reynolds. Reynolds’ free kick saved the day and led his team to victory.
Tuesday night, CFC defeated Birmingham Hammers in a dominating 5-0 victory with an absolute flood gate of goals finding their way into the back of the net.
The match was a continuation of the May 20th NPSL home opener that was postponed in the 22nd minute due to lightning, and drew in an estimated 5,700 fans.
“The team is starting to gel, and I think we all witnessed that with Tuesday’s result” said Bill Elliott, Chattanooga FC head coach. “We have some new faces in key positions, and they really found a rhythm. It finally looks like we’ve been able to find the back of the net and produce enough goals to get us some wins.”
The competition level in the NPSL continues to increase, which has CFC General Manager Sean McDaniel and his players excited about the future of the league and the opportunities it provides our soccer communities.
“The competition in the NPSL gets tougher every year,” said McDaniel. “Teams are getting better and better, which is a tremendous sign for our sport. Iron sharpens iron, and to that end we relish the opportunity to compete every week. Our players love it too, and we’ve seen them grow exponentially as they develop their talents with us.”
With semi-professional leagues flourishing across the United States, optimism for progressing the game remains on hand.
“The rise in talent has been a positive influence both in the NPSL and the PDL. We are anxious to see how USL Division 3 launches,” said McDaniel. “There’s plenty of quality players ready to make the jump.”
The victory places Chattanooga FC at the top of the division with a game in hand. Next up, CFC will host interdivisional rival FC Carolina United as FORT Finley on Saturday, June 24th, with kickoff at 8:30 p.m. ET.
