FC Surge Has Successful Weekend in WPSL Action
WPSL Sunshine Update: FC Surge concludes a hard-fought weekend as the Florida club recorded a win and draw ahead of the WPSL Playoffs kicking off in the next few weeks.
With 4 wins and 2 losses, the club is in ranks third in the Sunshine standings and hopes to advance to the Divisional Playoffs.

WPSL News: FC Surge of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) enjoyed a successful two games in the end of June. With 12 goals for and 9 goals against, the team is working hard to make the playoffs.

July 6, 2017, FC Surge will take on Treasure Coast Dynamites. Soccer fans should come out to Amelia Earhart Park for a 7:30 PM Kick off and cheer for great women’s amateur soccer.
Making the short trip north last Thursday, Surge played out a 1-0 victory in the 90th minute against the Team Boca Blast.
Possession was slanted towards Surge’s favor, but neither team could find the back of the net through 90 minutes.
Sunday’s match was a longer road trip over to Cape Coral to take on Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions. The Surge controlled most of the first half but saw themselves down by two goals.
Changing their formation and style of play, the Surge came back to record three goals and the victory. In the 54th minute, the first goal came off a corner kick headed by Christina Chang and tapped in by Tuany Miguel. A Lions foul just outside the 18-yard box in the 66th minute set up an indirect free kick by Nicole Baldassini. She faked her finish for Aline Dalmedico to record the tying goal. Dalmedico then contributed to the final goal by FC Surge when her attempted bicycle kick found the foot of Iris Dunn for the game-winning goal.
The Surge currently sits tied in 2nd place in the Sunshine Region of the WPSL with 13 points and two games remaining. Dalmedico leads the team with five goals and one assist. Chang and Nicole Baldassini have contributed two assists each.
Region winner advances to the Divisional Playoffs in the Carolinas July 22-23 with that Divisional Champion representing the South at the WPSL Final Four Championships July 29-30 in California.
