Champions Crowned at US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships
Region IV champions were crowned in the US Youth Soccer Region IV (West) Championships this weekend as teams book their tickets to the National Championships next month in Frisco, Texas.
The event will consist of US Youth Soccer Regional Champions in the U13 through U19/20 Boys and Girls age groups as well as the US Youth Soccer National League qualifiers in the U15 through U19/20 Boys and Girls age groups.
Youth Soccer News: US Youth Soccer has crowned 14 champions of the 2017 US Youth Soccer Region IV (West) Championships and commend their success in the state and regional championships of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series.
Cal South led the way with five Region IV titles, while Utah was close behind with three winners. Nevada won two titles, and Arizona, Cal North, Colorado and host Washington each had one champion. West Coast FC (CA-S) won three championships as a club, while Celtic FC (UT) claimed two.
After six clubs entered the tournament looking to defend their regional titles, only U17 Boys Santa Clara Sporting 00 Green (CA-N) and U19/20 Girls Eastside FC 98 Red (WA) managed to win back-to-back championships.
The Region IV Champions have earned the opportunity to advance to the final stage of their journey for the National Championship. The teams will join the 40 National League qualifiers and the champions from Region I (East), Region II (Midwest) and Region III (South) tournaments for the National Championships in Frisco, Texas.
The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series is the country’s most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, providing approximately 185,000 players on more than 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer’s 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play.
US Youth Soccer State Champions, US Youth Soccer Regional League winners and selected wildcard teams are eligible to compete in one of four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships. The champions in the U13 through U19/20 age groups from each regional event will converge in the finals in Frisco, Texas.
This year, live broadcasts of games will be available from the championships on the official website including daily reports and complete results.
