Teams Crowned at US Youth Soccer Region II Championships
68 of 96 teams have earned berths to nationals as Region II Champions were crowned last week in the Midwest.
The US Youth Soccer National Championships will consist of US Youth Soccer Regional Champions in the U13 through U19/20U Boys and Girls age groups as well as the US Youth Soccer National League qualifiers in the U15 through U19/20 Boys and Girls age groups to complete the field of 96 teams.
Youth Soccer News: US Youth Soccer crowned 14 champions at the 2017 US Youth Soccer Region II (Midwest) Championships as teams advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, the country’s most prestigious national youth soccer tournament.
# Advances to National Championships as Region II representative. 15U Girls Nationals Union 02 Black (MI), 17U Girls Midwest United FC 00 Royal (MI) and 19/20U Boys FC United (IL) to represent National League.
Of the 14 total champions, Michigan had five teams, Nebraska and Illinois were each represented by two champion teams and Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio North and Wisconsin each had one.
As seven teams entered the event looking to defend their regional titles, U17 Girls Midwest United FC 00 Royal (MI) and U19/20 Girls EGA Maroon 98 (NE) managed to win back-to-back regional titles, while U16 Girls Nationals Union 01 Black (MI) earned its third consecutive regional crown.
The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series is the country’s oldest and most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, providing approximately 185,000 players on more than 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer’s 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play.
