In His Newly Sanctioned Bid For US Soccer Federation President, Steve Gans Will Challenge Incumbent Sunil Gulati
Steve Gans, a Partner at the Boston law firm Prince Lobel Tye, LLP, who has spent 30 years in soccer from youth to pro, has qualified to run for President of the United States Soccer Federation (U.S. Soccer).
Soccer News: Steve Gans confirmed his interest in running this past July, and in September, U.S. Soccer established new rules to determine how one becomes eligible to run for President.
These newly adopted rules, which are similar to FIFA election rules, require a potential candidate to solicit a minimum number of nomination and support letters from an athlete or member organization of the U.S. Soccer National Council.
Gans has received the required letters of nomination and support to run under the new rules of eligibility.
“The eligibility rules have been changed, but the need for meaningful change at U.S. Soccer is even more urgent,” said Gans.
“We need better leadership.”
“My management and soccer experience is better suited to lead U.S. Soccer forward. I’m encouraged by the growing support generally and the tangible support from the member organizations. People who care about soccer in this country should know that I will be accountable and will lead with all voices being heard,” said Gans.

“With the help of all of our constituencies, I will make the United States a truly respected soccer nation.”
In addition to qualifying for the ballot, Gans also released names of prominent sports, business and community leaders who have joined his Steering Committee.
