Please Welcome Eastern Washington Surf
Surf Soccer Club — based in San Diego, California — has won 10 National Championships and helped develop many players for our country’s national youth player pools. The club has been heralded as the top youth soccer club in the Nation for girls and has just celebrated its 40th-anniversary fielding youth soccer teams.
In a time of change in the youth soccer world, forming strategic partnerships has become key to success and the growth of Surf’s Affiliate program is evidence of this.
Surf has just announced a new partnership in the greater Spokane area, it’s third club partner in the state of Washington and the 13th affiliate to join the Surf Affiliate Network.
Eastern Washington Surf, a club of about 100 teams previously comprised of two Spokane-based organizations — Foxes-Pumas FC and Breakers FC — will begin operating in 2018.
Soccer News: There are few youth soccer clubs in America with more name brand recognition for elite player development than Surf SC. With a proven track record of success for elite player development and with the prestigious Surf Cup youth soccer tournaments as part of the brand, the “Surf” crest is highly regarded as an authoritative and leading name in youth sports.
This distinguished reputation may be celebrated but it is not a marketing effort — it is the result of hard work and long hours from a dedicated staff.
Now, sought after by many clubs looking to find support in the ever-changing and highly competitive youth soccer landscape, the organization is welcoming another affiliate.
Surf Cup Sports just announced a new affiliate partnership in Spokane, Washington. The new club will be called Eastern Washington Surf and came about after a merger between Spokane Foxes-Pumas and Spokane Breakers.
Eastern Washington Surf will begin operating immediately.
San Diego Surf Soccer Club is nationally known for its excellence in soccer. The club has won 10 National Championships, 25 Regional Championships, and developed more than 20 National Team players. The Surf’s affiliate program is an innovative extension of their youth soccer club program and already includes more than 10,000 youth soccer players wearing the Surf logo.
Now, the Surf brand is growing again — but unlike other soccer organization seeking to expand numbers of players and geographical reach, Surf only wants to add quality.
The state of Washington is already home to two other Surf Affiliates, Greater Seattle, and PSPL Academy, as well as Surf’s longtime strategic partner, Crossfire Premier.
Eastern Washington Surf is excited to support these partner clubs to continue developing complete student-athletes at all levels of the game without influence from major corporations like the MLS.
Playing at the Next Level
“Joining the prestigious culture of the Surf Soccer Club is going to enable our coaches, players, and families to take advantage of the proven success of development in players and create a competitive environment that will support all our players in their aspirations of playing at the next level,” said Jerry Cardenas, Executive Director of Eastern Washington Surf.
“The opportunity to bring such respected resources to Eastern Washington will increase the desire to be a part of and create the most competitive club in our area,” said Cardenas.
Cardenas’ top staff includes Gary Carlsen, President, and Jami Ostby-Marsh, Marketing Director. As a Surf affiliate, Eastern Washington Surf FC enjoys an exclusive partnership with the Surf Affiliate Network and San Diego Surf — the benefits include coaching, marketing, and administrative support.
“We are extremely excited to have the Surf brand in Eastern Washington,” said Chris Adams, who oversees the Affiliate Network for Surf.
“The goal is to continue the quality that these two former clubs have built, and take it to the next level of professionalism with the benefits that the Surf Affiliate program brings; such as free registration software, great deals with Nike and SOCCER.COM, our preferred partners, and next-level collaboration and support with San Diego, Greater Seattle, and PSPL Surf as well as Crossfire Premier,” said Adams.
