McCall Zerboni Named NWSL Player of the Week
McCall Zerboni has been named NWSL Player of the Week for her controlling midfield performance during North Carolina Courage’s win over the Houston Dash. The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis.
NWSL Soccer News: North Carolina Courage midfielder McCall Zerboni has received NWSL Player of the Week honors, as voted by the NWSL Media Association. She earns the accolade for the second time this month, also winning the nod for Week 3.
Zerboni helped the Courage collect three points in a 2-0 victory versus the Houston Dash on Saturday, April 28th. Zerboni was a key asset in the midfield with a passing accuracy percentage of 83.6%. In addition, Zerboni tallied eight tackles and created two opportunities for her club on 87 touches, according to Opta.
The Courage (5-0-1) claim the top spot in the NWSL standings and enter Week 6 undefeated. Zerboni has won Player of the Week twice in her career and last campaign she was named to the Best XI for the first time.
Zerboni first won Player of the Week this season after scoring a brace in the Courage’s 4-2 road win over the Washington Spirit on April 14. She has two goals so far this season.
