Yael Averbuch Will Serve As NWSL Players Association Executive Director For 2019
The NWSL Players Association is the official players association and union of Players in the National Women’s Soccer League. It was founded in May of 2017 and represents all Players on NWSL rosters who sign Standard Player Agreement with NWSL.
Women’s Soccer News: The National Women’s Soccer League Players Association (NWSLPA) has announced that Yael Averbuch, former National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) player and NWSLPA President, will now function as the organization’s Executive Director, effective immediately.
Reign FC recently announced that Averbuch will not return to the team for preseason training prior to the 2019 NWSL season due to ongoing health issues. She will, however, remain heavily involved in the League, working closely with the players to further the goals of the NWSLPA.
The NWSLPA is grateful to FIFPro, the worldwide representative for professional football players, for its financial support. FIFPro has been an important resource during the start-up phase, in the sharing of best practice and inspiring efforts to galvanize the rights of players across the United States.

Averbuch adds, “I’m very excited about this role. FIFPro has continually offered support to the NWSLPA and we appreciate their help to build a solid foundation. Our league is home to some of the most talented women in the world. My goal is to empower this group of players as we work closely with the league to make progress on and off the field.”
Moving forward, Averbuch will direct the NWSLPA when it comes to adding value to the player experience and representing the voice and interests of the players in conversations with the League. The NWSLPA is committed to working collaboratively with all entities of the League, as well as with domestic partners, the USWNTPA and MLSPA, to advance women’s soccer in this country.
