While many soccer pundits were less than enamoured with the USMNT victory in the USA opening match of the 2019 Gold Cup against Guyana, there great moments to celebrate.
The 4-0 win at Minnesota United’s Allianz Field deserves a nod as every goal scored for the Red, White and Blue is important and the overall performance of the team begins to show a positive light on the new reign of leadership at U.S. Soccer.
Since the USA failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup last October 2017, the soccer world in America seemed more fragile than ever before. The new head coach, Gregg Berhalter, has sought to find our country’s identity on the green and create a significant and recognizable style for our Red, White and Blue squad. After losing in friendlies against Jamaica and Venezuela, critics had voiced their concern, but Berhalter has been holding true to his vision, creating a plan that should bring success in the future, as well as now, to our impatient country of armchair coaches.
