Ellis is the first head coach to bring home back-to-back international titles and was awarded FIFA’s top coaching recognition — for the second time.
Jill Ellis is the first head coach ever to win two FIFA World Cups
Unstoppable — that is what people are calling Jill Ellis who currently is on track to become the winningest coach ever for the U.S. Women’s National Team.
Ellis is also raking in well deserved international recognition and was just named FIFA’s Best Women’s Coach in Milan this week. A salute to her accomplishments since taking over the women’s side, our head coach for U.S. Women’s National Team delivered spectacular 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup results in France.
Ellis clearly deserved recognition. It was our countries second consecutive victory.
Ellis also won the coveted FIFA coaching award after our country’s victory in the 2015 World Cup in Canada.
DiCicco holds the current record of 105 wins. Ellis holds a record of 105-7-18 and has two more chances to claim the winningest.
While Ellis is quoted as saying, “Being the coach of this team has been a tremendous privilege,” it was her unstoppable pursuit of winning that has shaped the team’s culture. The drive to always score and never stop is a hallmark of Ellis style. The Ellis era will be hard to follow.

Ellis thanked her talented and committed players while accepting this award. Ellis also thanked her father, who she said was her first coached and encouraged her to get into this game.
While Ellis is leaving her role with U.S. Soccer as the head coach, she will be staying on board as an ambassador.
Ellis, who will step down as head coach following the completion of the Victory Tour in early October has said, “The timing is right to move on and the program is positioned to remain at the pinnacle of women’s soccer. Change is something I have always embraced in my life and for me and my family this is the right moment.”
“The opportunity to coach this team and work with these amazing women has been the honor of a lifetime,” Ellis said.
