Minnesota United Supports Mental Health Awareness in May
Over the weekend, Minnesota United FC supported Mental Health Awareness Month during the club’s matchup versus FC Dallas. The MLS club provided verbal and video messages of support throughout the stadium in a — victory at Allianz Field. The event marked Week 6 of the 2021 MLS Season. Minnesota United has recorded – wins and – losses in 2021.
MLS NEWS: Minnesota United FC (MNUFC) has announced the club will recognize Mental Health Awareness Month throughout the month of May. On Saturday, May 15, MNUFC celebrated with several in-game events and programs honoring Mental Awareness Month.
For instance, a Mental Health T-shirt was available to purchase, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting National Alliance on Mental Illness Minnesota. Both the Minnesota United and FC Dallas players, coaching staff members and broadcast teams sported Green Mental Health ribbons and pins.
The LED boards during the game provided hotline phone numbers with “if you need help” messaging. Halftime and postgame segments also featured “if you need help” messaging and a pregame player video including Niko Hansen, Jan Gregus and Tyler Miller. Lastly, Allianz Field façade will be lit green during halftime, as green is the color used for awareness in mental health
Throughout the month of May, MNUFC will provide resources for mental health and promote the importance of mental wellness.
For the entire month of May, fans are encouraged to round up their purchases as a part of our Register Round Up program at the Black and Blue Team Store to benefit NAMI Minnesota.
eMLS Charity Stream, presented by M Health Fairview: MNUFC eMLS player Brandon Yamane and midfielder Niko Hansen will host a FIFA charity stream with proceeds benefiting NAMI Minnesota. Additionally, In an ongoing effort to develop our athletes on and off the field, the MNUFC Youth Development Program will participate in mental health group conversations facilitated by NAMI Minnesota.
