SoccerToday: What’s your favorite part of high school soccer?
Summer Mason: My favorite part of high school is playing at home under the lights with my friends in the stands cheering and pumping me up.
SoccerToday: Do you listen to music before a game?
Summer Mason: I always listen to music before games. In high school we listen to music in the locker room and before the game when we warm up. In club I listen to the same playlist on my headphones before every game.
SoccerToday: What’s your favorite post-game snack?
Summer Mason: After games I’m not hungry for close to an hour, but usually I replenish all the energy I burned off by eating pasta with meatballs.
SoccerToday: Do you have any superstitions on game day?
Summer Mason: For club I have a ridiculous amount of superstitions. I wear the same sports bra, sliders, headband, and use the same water bottle. I also listen to the same playlist for the same amount of time. For high school I wear the same headband and wear my captain badge on the same leg every game. Before every game starts when I’m on the field I touch both my ears, my wrists, and then my belly button. This sounds weird but I started doing it to check that I took all my jewelry off and then it just kinda stuck; however, I dont have a belly button piercing so I dont know where that started.
SoccerToday: What’s your favorite movie?
Summer Mason: I have recently seen American Sniper & Captain Phillips & I really enjoyed both of them! But of course I love the classic Christmas movie Elf!
SoccerToday: What’s your favorite subject in school?
Summer Mason: My favorite subject in school is chemistry because it comes naturally to me and I find it interesting thanks to Mrs. Stitts.
SoccerToday: On your rare soccer-free days, how do you like to relax?
Summer Mason: On my soccer free days I find myself either still playing soccer with friends, driving around and just hanging out with my friends, or spending the day with my mom running errands or shopping. I never really relax on soccer free days, I’d rather make use out of my day.
