San Francisco’s supporter owned club will call Kezar home for 2015 Spring Schedule Schedule features NorCal Premier League play and friendlies against top sides in the area
San Francisco City Football Club is proud to announce that all spring home matches will be played at historic Kezar Stadium in the heart of San Francisco. Situated on the border of Cole Valley and the famous Haight-Ashbury district, Kezar Stadium was the former home to the San Francisco 49ers for over three decades. Kezar has also been the host of numerous soccer teams and events in the area since its inception.
“We are extremely proud to partner with the City of San Francisco to play our spring home games at Kezar Stadium.” said SF City President Jacques Pelham.
In 1967, it served as the home for the San Francisco Golden Gate Gales of the United Soccer Association. The California Victory of USL also used Kezar as their 2007 home venue (their sole season in competition). Recently, Kezar has hosted 2012 and 2014 U.S. Open Cup matches for Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes. SF City will play all NorCal Premier League games and U.S. Open Cup matches at Kezar Stadium unless announced otherwise.
SF City FC will be looking to defend its NorCal Premier League title by kicking-off away against Redwood City Juventus on Friday, March 13, 7:30pm at Bechet Field. They’ll return home a week later to face the NorCal Premier League runner up, Stanislaus United Academica, in the club’s first match at Kezar on Saturday, March 21 at 2:00pm. SF City will a play friendly match against CSU East Bay at Pioneer Stadium on April 15, as well as play in a homecoming match for SF City coach and general manager in Davis, CA on May 16. On Saturday, April 25, SF City FC will compete in the opening round of the U.S. Open Cup, with an opponent yet to be announced.
“We are very excited and determined to repeat as NorCal Premier League champions in 2015. Our lineup of league and friendly matches will provide us a very challenging environment in the build up to the U.S. Open Cup. We are so fortunate to be able to play our home matches at Kezar Stadium and look forward to providing all our supporters a world class experience worthy of this historic venue.” said SF City General Manager, Jordan Gardner.
