Albion BU11 White Win West Coast Classic Continuing Their Summer of Success
Every once in a while there is a coach who inspires his players to leave it all on the field and to bring greatness to a competition. Albion SC’s Wayne Crowe is that special kind of coach who makes his players not only love the beautiful game but want to learn and be great on the field — and it shows with repeated victories. Albion SC BU11s have won Albion Cup National Soccer Showcase. Now they have added West Coast Futbol Classic to their list of championships.
Albion SC BU11 White team recently won The West Coast Futbol Classic held on August 16th and 17th, 2014 in Orange County, CA. Coached by Wayne Crowe, Development Academy Director & GK Director at Albion SC, the team performed well in highly competitive games. Crowe was honored by Cal South as Development Coach of the Year for 2013 and is a highly dedicated youth soccer coach who led his players to victory.
“The level of competition was extremely strong with 16 top teams in this tournament,” said Crowe. “Playing some very good teams in the bracket, Albion BU11 beat Hawkes 5-0 in the morning then lost to La Galaxy 2-1 in the afternoon. Needing to win on Sunday to advance to the semis finals, the boys played well against Arsenal 3-0 and we earned the title of champions defeating Real So Cal (RSC) 3-2 in the final.”

“The top flight in West Coast Futbol Classic was very tight with good competition with 3 of the 4 teams all finished on 6 points. Albion SC scored well during our games and we advanced on goal difference into the semis,” said Crowe.
In the semis the Albion BU11 team played tournament hosts West Coast beating them 2-0 and then beating Real So Cal in PK’s to take the Final.
“Going 2-0 down against a very good Real So Cal the team kept working hard and playing with a determination to get back in the game and tie it 2-2 with 5 minutes remaining,” said Crowe. “After playing 5 games over two days in the heat, the team performed very well to get back into this game and succeed. Going straight to PK’s to decide the winner, our boys converted their PKs and our Albion goalkeeper saved two of Real So Cal’s PKs to decide the winner. It was a great match and I am proud of how hard our boys worked to earn this win. The boys played good soccer and that is what is most important.”
“This group of players have been doing well over the summer winning Albion Cup National Soccer Showcase,” said Crowe.
Next up for this impressive team is Roy Lassiter’s United FC Cup over Labor day weekend.
