Albion SC PROS Edge SoCal SC in Pomona
Albion PROS recorded a hard fought win over the weekend in Pomona, CA, as the San Diego club turns their attention to Week 8 of the 2017 NPSL Season. The PROS will then welcome Chula Vista FC for an exciting Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matchup scheduled for next Wednesday May 10th.
NPSL Soccer News: Albion SC PROS are back on track after recording a 2-1 win over SoCal SC on Saturday night.
Albion opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Polish defender Jakub Waligorski converted a penalty kick. Brazilian forward Luan Oliveira then found the back of the net for the visiting side in the final minute of the first half.
Coached by Daniel Musatti, SoCal SC pushed numbers forward during the second half and Colombian striker Roonie Moreno scored a header in the 67th assisted by Andy Contreras.
“Ziggy and the staff have really been working hard,” said Noah Gins, Albion SC PROS Executive Director.
They have suffered some tough road losses but with their consistent work ethic and due diligence they have put forth a good result,” said Gins. “Expect this to be the turning point of the season for the team to go on a run.”
The ability of the PROS to transition up and down the pitch proved vital as they recorded a much need three points.
“I’m proud of the effort on both sides of the ball — a number of guys stepped up,” said Ziggy Korytoski, Albion SC PROS head coach.
“Kyle Jackson had an excellent game in goal. We felt we were in control for much of the match and were unfortunate not to go 3-0 up,”said Korytoski. “I feel that we are beginning to hit our stride, which is important with the U.S. Open Cup around the corner.”
Albion PROS returns home this weekend as they prepare to host City of Angels FC on Saturday, May 6th, at Mission Bay Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. PT.
Albion PROS now sits in the Southwest Conference with 9 points after three wins and four losses during the 2017 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) campaign.

A record number of amateur teams are competing against professional sides in this 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup — which is the tournament’s 104th edition.
The PROS will welcome Chula Vista FC to Mission Bay Stadium on Wednesday, May 10th, for a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matchup. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. PT.
San Diego’s semi-professional club earned its berth in the annual tournament after winning the Southwestern Conference in 2016 as one of the few teams that finished undefeated during the regular season.
“We are very excited to be part of this event and are taking this very seriously,” said Gins. “We see this as an unbelievable opportunity for our organization and soccer in San Diego. We want to push to later rounds of this event.”
