Grande Sports Academy Opens Charter High School with Arizona State University
Arizona State University and Grande Sports Academy announce the partnership to open a new charter high school in Casa Grande. Grande Sports Academy is one of four residential soccer academies in the United States and will welcome ASU Prep on campus beginning this fall.
Soccer News: Grande Sports Academy announced that it has reached an agreement with Arizona State University to open a new charter high school in Casa Grande, Arizona. ASU is currently recognized by U.S. News and World Report as the most innovative university in the United States, surpassing Stanford and MIT. The ASU Prep High School, Casa Grande, will be located on the Grande Sports Academy campus.
Beginning in August 2016, ASU Prep will serve students in grades 9-12 currently enrolled at the academy and students living in the Casa Grande area.
ASU Prep maintains a rigorous curriculum focused on the internationally acclaimed Cambridge Curriculum. This personalized student instruction promotes critical thinking and project-based learning while utilizing annual “Capstone” thesis-venture projects. Every graduating student of the 2015 Class was admitted to post-secondary study and awarded a combined amount of more than $3 million in college scholarships. Both ASU Prep high schools are on track this year to graduate 100% of the 2016 class.
Grande Sports Academy is home to one of only four, year-round residential soccer academies in the United States. Grande Sports Academy competes at the highest-level youth soccer league in the nation and serves as a training destination for youth, professional and national teams from around the world. Every year, more than 90 academy students, ages 14-18 participate in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, this 11-month program is comprised of the top 79 youth teams in the United States and Canada.
100% of Grande Sports Academy graduates have received a college scholarship or signed a professional contract, a total of 123 students have received college scholarships and 26 have signed professional contracts. Grande Sports Academy alumni have earned scholarships to prestigious academic and athletic universities that include current Division 1 NCAA Champion Stanford University, 2014 Division 1 NCAA Champion University of Virginia and soccer powerhouses – University of Maryland, UCLA, Wake Forest University, Clemson University, Georgetown University, University of Louisville, Marquette University and University of New Mexico.
On the international stage, 65 of GSA’s players have been chosen by their home country to compete for their nation’s national team during the past five years (48 for U.S. National Teams and/or 20 for foreign teams).
Two Grande Sports Academy players signed contracts with Liverpool and Manchester United in the last two years. Since opening six years ago, five athletes, have been designated Player of the Year by the U.S. Soccer Federation Development Academy.
