Beacon Bandits Win Boys-Under-12 Arch Cup Gold
New York Youth Soccer News: This is Beacon’s first championship in the Arch Cup
It was a tall task but the Beacon Bandits of the East Hudson Youth Soccer League (ENYSL) dethroned the defending champs, the Plainedge Roughnecks of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL), 3-1, to win Boys-Under-12 Arch Cup Gold. This championship game was played on June 9 at the Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview.
Avery Davis, Brody Timm and Derek Vibrock scored Beacon’s goals.
“We moved the ball pretty well and played possession,” explained Beacon coach Mike Lenten. “Defensively, Chris Crawford and Stephen McDowell did a really good job in the back.”
Beacon also received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials. Amoroso, who died two years ago, started the LIJSL Sportsmanship Program in 1980, it has since been copied around the world and he spoke about the benefits of Fair Play across the United States.
