Soccer News: Raford Almuni Will Serve As Jami Kranich’s Backup
The Boston Breakers announced that goalkeeper Che Brown has been named to the roster as an amateur call-up.
The 23-year-old from Manassas Park, VA. is one of the best players ever to come out of the Big South Conference. She finished her career with a program-best 33 shutouts. A three-time Big South Defensive Player of the Year and four-time first-team all-conference selection, Brown capped her college career in 2013 with a 14-3-2 record, the best in her four years at Radford. She notched 49 wins and registered a 0.69 goals against average as a Highlander.
Brown was a trialist with the Washington Spirit during the 2015 NWSL preseason. Her previous playing experience includes a stint with the Houston Aces of the Women’s Premier Soccer League. Brown helped lead the Aces to the WPSL finals in 2014.
The Breakers open a stretch of three consecutive home games at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium. It begins Saturday at 4 p.m. ET against Portland Thorns FC, followed by matches against Sky Blue FC (May 22) and FC Kansas City (May 30).
