Pathman, Washington and Wood Stay @ Boston Breakers
The Boston Breakers announced today the club has re-signed forward Mollie Pathman, midfielder Nikki Washington and defender Rachel Wood. Per team and league policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Pathman, 22, was drafted in the third round (No. 23 overall) by the Breakers in the 2014 NWSL College Draft. The Durham, N.C. native started 18 of her 21 matches played, registering one assist in 1,519 minutes.
A former Duke University standout, Pathman spent the offseason on loan with Cypriot First Division champions Apollon Limassol. She appeared in two UEFA Women’s Champions League matches for Apollon.
Washington, 26, was acquired April 29, 2014 in a trade with the Houston Dash. An alum of North Carolina, she made 10 starts in 15 appearances for the Breakers in 2014, scoring one goal in 939 minutes. The Mesquite, Texas native’s goal came on July 20 in a 6-3 loss to Portland Thorns FC at Providence Park.
Wood, 24, was signed by the Breakers on July 11, 2014 after an impressive run with the Boston Breakers Reserves in the WPSL. A UC-Irvine product, Wood started all seven games she appeared in for the Breakers in 2014.
The Laguna Niguel, CA. native finished her debut NWSL season with one goal and one assist in 585 minutes of action. The goal, the first of her professional career, came Aug. 11 in a 2-0 win over Portland Thorns FC.
