Opening Week of US Youth Soccer National League Boys Concludes
Youth soccer is exciting at all levels – from the most elite to recreational. When top teams come together from all across America to compete — it is an amazing experience for these young athletes.
The opening weekend of the US Youth Soccer National League Boys comes to a close as the top clubs in the country began their quest for a berth to the US Youth Soccer National Championships. Top college coaches were in North Carolina for a weekend of soccer action as teams showcased their skills at the highest level.
Youth Soccer News: After four days of competition, the US Youth Soccer National League U15-U19/20 Boys have solidified their spots in the standings until the next weekend meeting held December 27-29 in Orlando, Florida. The top clubs in the country will continue competing for a league title and a ticket to the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Championships in Frisco, Texas.
The competition within each age group has been very competitive, and multiple teams are still very much alive for every division title. The first place team’s lead is two points or less in 13 of the 16 divisions, and three divisions are tied at the top of the table. Just eight clubs came away with a win in each of their four matches.
“Here in the National League, every game is difficult. To get a result, you have to grind out everything,” said Chris Jennings, head coach of U17 BRYC 00 Elite. “The caliber of teams is phenomenal, and we’re honored to be here. We’ve been stressing to our guys that we’ve got to work from the first minute to the last minute to get these results.”
National League teams earn their place in the league based on success in US Youth Soccer regional and national competitions.
The National League is an extension of the highly successful US Youth Soccer Regional Leagues. It provides a path for teams to play in competitive matches against top teams from across the country for continued development and opportunities for exposure at the national team, collegiate and professional levels.
National League Boys action continues when half of the teams meet December 27-29 in Orlando, Florida, alongside the Disney Soccer Showcase. The remaining 64 clubs play March 10-12, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada, alongside the Players College Showcase.
