Calgary Youth Soccer Club Partners With West Ham North American Academy
Cal-Glen Soccer Club has successfully partnered with Premier League team West Ham United’s North American Academy. The club builds upon its recent success in youth soccer as they aim to continue to develop top players and provide them with the opportunity to benefit from advanced coaching techniques.

Steve Gough, Technical Director, stated that the entry of the Club into a Youth Partner Agreement with West Ham United’s North American Academy “is fantastic news for the club’s management, players, coaches, academy and all those involved in supporting the club. It demonstrates the club’s ambition to develop its program to a new level, offering opportunities for all players to benefit from the coaching support and mentoring, the academy camps and the wealth of international soccer best practices that the English Premier League club’s North American Academy offers. Cal-glen was formed over 30 years ago, and offers a full soccer program for over 1,000 boys and girls, age 4 through 18. The club fields close to 80 teams supported by 185 coaches and 80 team managers, many of whom are volunteers.
The club, growing in ambition, has focused on player and program development in recent years delivering success across all ages and tiers. Since 2012, the Elite tier teams have amassed 20 tournament medals (including 9 gold’s), 12 top 3 league finishes and represented Calgary at Provincial Tournaments on 5 occasions. The club philosophy embraces soccer for all, and offers players the opportunity to develop skills to the best of their ability in a fun focused environment.
Cal-glen SC will be hosting a West Ham North American Academy Showcase in the summer of 2016. Players will be trained and evaluated by a coach from The West Ham North American Academy. Players who display potential will be invited to The West Ham North American Academy National Camp.
