Carl Haworth Called Up to Canadian National Team
Carl Haworth of Ottawa Fury FC has received his first national team call-up for Canada following his stellar NASL season in which he scored eight goals and six assists in all competitions. Canada will face Korea on Friday, November 11th at 7:00 a.m. ET in Cheonan.
USL Soccer News: Ottawa Fury FC forward Carl Haworth has earned his first call-up to the Canada Men’s National Team ahead of their international friendly against Korea Republic on November 11th.
It has been a week to remember for Haworth who was named the club’s Player of the Year and Top Scorer. He also inked a new contract on Tuesday with the USL bound club.

“It’s a huge honor to be called up to the National Team,” said Haworth who is coming off a career year in Ottawa. “It has always been a goal of mine and I’m really excited that it’s become a reality. I would like to thank everyone at Ottawa Fury FC for helping me get to this point in my career.”
Haworth recorded seven goals and added four assists to lead his club in scoring in the NASL this campaign. The Barrie, Ontario, native finished the year with eight goals and six assists in all competitions.
“We’re so happy for Carl,” said Fury FC head coach Paul Dalglish. “Carl’s work ethic and commitment to the game has earned him this opportunity and we look forward to seeing another Fury FC player in the CANMNT.”
Fury FC’s leading goal scorer will join familiar faces in Korea as teammates Jamar Dixon (Ottawa) and Maxim Tissot (Gatineau) will also represent the CANMNT for this upcoming contest.
Haworth last represented Canada in 2012 as part of the CAN U23 squad during the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
The Korea Republic versus Canada match is scheduled for Friday, November 11th in Cheonan at 7:00 a.m. ET. It will be the first game between the two nations since 2002. The match will broadcast here.
