Carli Lloyd Marries in Puerto Morelos, Mexico
U.S. Women’s National Team superstar Carli Lloyd has tied the knot with her high school sweetheart as the couple celebrated in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, last week. The 2015 FIFA Women’s Player of the Year is enjoying her vacation as the year comes to a close, with 2017 surely set to be another great year to watch her play.
Soccer News: Here is something different then our usual soccer news. Pure, simple and happy news.
Marriage goals! Olympian Carli Lloyd is officially married to her high school sweetheart, Brian Hollins, she confirms exclusively to The Knot.
The bride and groom exchanged vows on Friday, November 4, in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, before 75 of their closest friends and family members. The intimate ceremony took place beachside along the picturesque Mayan Riviera.
The self-proclaimed “low-key bride” opted for an easy-going, destination wedding, which she previewed to The Knot in a November 2015 interview.
“I’m not really that difficult. I just want to have a good time with everybody, I just want to have a good night,” Lloyd said at the time. “I want my hair and makeup to look great [and] my dress to be beautiful. But other than that, I’m not too particular.”
Hollins, a professional golfer, proposed to his love of 15 years in January 2013.
The duo enjoyed an extended engagement, choosing to marry after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where Lloyd competed with the United States Women’s National Team. The bride was named 2015 FIFA Women’s Player of the Year, and she’s in the running to defend her title as this year’s winner.
