Full Service Facility Opens in San Diego
San Diegans Invited to Grand Opening Weekend of Food, Prizes, Facility Tours, 3v3 Soccer Tournament, and Special Guest Visit by San Diego Sockers, April 30 and May 1st, 2011
San Diego soccer players have something new to celebrate … a smart, injury-prevention oriented soccer training center, The Catalyst Training Center (TCTC). TCTC is a premier, full-service soccer training and recreation facility and is the first of its kind in San Diego county.
Conceived by Alicia Piz, a former SDSU Divison One soccer athlete and fitness fanatic, TCTC stands apart from similar facilities in the region by providing tailored training and development catered to the needs of soccer athletes.
After dealing with six knee surgeries and two torn anterior cruciate ligaments (ACLs) throughout her own soccer career, Piz realized soccer players’ need for injury deterrence workouts and specialized amenities, such as custom training sessions, skills camps, college recruitment assistance, and nutrition seminars.
“My inspiration for the center came from seeing so many soccer friends and athletes suffer from injuries that could have been avoided by proper training programs,” said Piz. “My hope is Catalyst fills this need in the local soccer community, and ultimately becomes the standard for sport-specific training centers nationwide.”
April 30 – May 1 is the grand opening event weekend and 3 versus 3 (3v3) tournament with boys and girls U9-11, U12-14, U15-18 divisions. The cost of participation in the tournament is only $50 and teams must register by April 25th to play. Winners of each championship game will be automatically qualified for the Challenge Sports 3v3 National Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, at Walt Disney World® Resort, July 29-30.
All soccer enthusiasts in the area are encouraged to come out for raffles and prizes, personal facility tours, BBQ, and the chance to hang out with star athletes from San Diego’s professional soccer team, The San Diego Sockers, on Sunday between 1:30 – 3:00 p.m., as well as semi-professional San Diego Boca FC profesional soccer team players on Saturday.
